Court etiquette & safety
Squash is two people swinging hard in a small box. These are the house rules that keep it fun and everyone unbruised.
Warming up
- Five minutes, shared fairly — hit to yourself, then to your opponent.
- Don't spend the whole warm-up grooving winners while they fetch.
- Warm the ball up too. A cold ball is nobody's friend.
Safety first
- Wear goggles. One ball to the eye is one too many.
- Hold your swing if your opponent is anywhere near the ball's path.
- Call “let” early — pride heals slower than a racket bruise.
Coming & going
- Knock and wait for the rally to finish before opening the door — never walk in mid-point.
- Between games is fine. Mid-rally is never fine.
- Walking past a court in use? Wait for the rally to end, then go quickly.
During the game
- Call the score clearly before every serve — server's score first. It settles arguments before they start.
- Pick up loose balls between rallies, yours included.
- Let calls are honest calls. If you'd want it given, give it.
Sharing the club
- Between games, let waiting players cross or warm up on court.
- Wrap up on time — the next booking has dreams too.
- Leave the court cleaner than your opponent's ego.
